In Korea it's not actually a snake year until the Lunar New Year comes. So this is legit. Happy freaking snake year people. Jessie AND Kanako-sama oh boy a year for me
Although snakes had been bad guys in many stories, snakes are the symbol of immortality, resurrection and fertility. (Kanako-sama's shimenawa means the same thing!) In Korea, snakes living under a house were told to be the guardian gods of the house and to bring wealth to the family. A dream of snakes are told to be a very good omen and a dream where you kill a snake might bring you bad luck.
Also snakes are symbol of wisdom (whether it is an evil wisdom or a good one) and as snakes can't just move backward, they mean advance too.
Recently I had a movie-like spectacular dream that a swarm of gigantic anakonda-like snakes invaded a city I was visiting in the dream. I hope this year be a good one for me!
But... It's actually the year of BLACK SNAKE they say, but... damn it
Yeah, snakes are actually a good symbol! But I think popular media has obscured their meaning.
